A Snack Plaque

My least favorite question posed to actresses is “how do you stay so thin?” I hate it because 9 times out of 10 their answer goes something like, “Oh I just make sure I put on sunscreen and drink lots of water!” …Weight, what? That’s not right. Or if you actually get an honest answer it involves foods that end in “grass” or a three hour a day work out regimen-Gross and no thanks.

There has, so far, been one answer I’m ok with and that came from Carrie Underwood. I read somewhere that she maintains a healthy weight by keeping a food journal.

Food journals are perfect, especially if you are the kind of person that just plain eats. A food journal ensures that at the end of the day you can see where you need to improve so that next time when you can't get into your skinny jeans you can look back and see it’s because of the bag of cheetos you had for breakfast. Accountability on a page.

For the iphod (just a shorter way of saying phone/pod which is defeated in this parenthesis) there is an app called “loose it” which allows you to set a goal then keep track of your caloric intake by entering everything you eat (it has tons of ways to find what you’ve eaten too, which is usually where most calorie counters fall short. And it saves every food you enter making it easier for you to add food the next day). Since downloading this app I have found that my justification system for, say, a second doughnut has been broken down tremendously. It’s also a good motivator for working out in that it shows you how many more calories you get to eat. Really, it’s like weight watchers but free.

For those of you who haven’t yet downloaded their brain into an iphone there is always the google homepage option called “Calorie Calculator” which does almost the same thing, but on a more basic level.

There you have it. I’ve pretty much removed every excuse you have for not watching what you eat. Thank me now, cause you’ll want to do anything but when that fifth cookie is staring you down. :)
